THOMAS HUG

I am a tax partner at Deloitte Switzerland, leading the National Tax Office, and serve as a substitute judge at the Tax Appeals Court of the Canton of Zurich ("Steuerrekursgericht des Kantons Zürich"). I have more than 15 years of experience in Swiss and international tax matters and a proven track record of being at the forefront of international tax developments and analysing their impact from a Swiss tax technical perspective. I am a Swiss Certified Tax Expert ("dipl. Steuerexperte"). Prior to joining Deloitte, I worked for one of the other Big4 firms in Switzerland and was the Deputy Head Group Tax of Bank Julius Baer & Co. Ltd. for almost a decade.

I am a regular speaker at national and international tax conferences and a lecturer in the Transfer Pricing Executive Programme at the University of Lausanne and the Tax Accounting & Reporting Certificate Course of EXPERTsuisse. I regularly publish on tax topics and have (co)-authored several books, including the first comprehensive book on transfer pricing in Switzerland and on tax accounting and reporting considering the OECD Model Rules.

I represent Deloitte Switzerland in the EXPERTsuisse tax group and in the Professional Affairs Committee of CFE Tax Advisers Europe, the leading organization of the tax advisers profession in Europe.

I am also an examiner for the Swiss Certified Tax Experts examinations and a member of EXPERTsuisse, veb.ch - Swiss Association for Accounting and Controlling and the Swiss Association of Judges.
